at the end of july we took a trip to idaho. the kiddies and i plus grandma hopped in her car at 4:30 in the morning and got started on our drive. the drive went pretty smoothly except for bronwyn’s almost constant screaming and a huge blow-out poopy diaper. (which we didn’t catch until it was out of the diaper stinking up the car and bronwyn’s hands all dirty in it. disgusting) well after 15 1/2 hours we arrived and a wonderful time visiting with family for a few days. thisbe and magnus got to try fishing for the first time. sadly no fish.
than we headed up north to yellowstone national park. saw quite a few animals, including these.
this huge dragon fly, (he was about as big as my hand)
and some cool sites
the next morning at 2:30 washington time we started out home again. this time the kids slept almost the whole way. and as long as we had a movie in while bron was awake she didn’t scream. this allowed us to drop a couple of hours off the drive time.
it’s sprinkler time around here. the kiddies race around it with umbrellas trying not to get wet.

bron was having fun too until she got wet. she did not appriciate getting spinkled on, not one little bit.

we enjoyed our first day at the park this summer. bron even kept on her oversized hat.
magnus set out to make a gun while there. he used a couple of sticks and some grass to tie them together. the grass unfortunatly didn’t hold too well so there was a few tears as a result, but he sat and worked at it for at least 15 minutes trying to make it work.
i am so glad that summer is finally here. now i can only hope the northwest weather will hold up.
we all went to seattle last saturday to spend some time with family. (grandma and grandpa + uncle and his family) we started off the day at the pacific science center. we didn’t have much time in the morning so bron and i went to the butterfly exibit while everyone else watched a movie.
here are some pic from the butterfly exibit
when we all were done we went for a ride on the ducks. that was alot more fun than i thought it would be. bron however at first would not agree with me. she screamed for the whole tour of seattle. but than when we left the rode and headed out to sea she couldn’t have been happier.
here is bron after she came to terms with the duck ride.
here is thisbe with holding on tight while we were on highway 99. i was a bit scared as well. (you know, roller coaster ride scared)
after the ducks ride we had lunch that went back to the science center. i enjoyed the dinosaur bone exibit they have there right now. when we were getting ready to leave magnus discovered the magic mirrors. he thought it was so funny and couldn’t stop laughing. thisbe got in on the fun too. than i had to see what was sooooo funny. maybe it was because i was so tired or maybe it was really funny but i was caught up by all the sillyness too. anyway here’s what we were looking at, you be the judge.
and
yesterday was the kiddies final piano recital with jennifer.
here they are before the recital. a bit nervous.

bron wasn’t nervous be she looked cute that day.

and here are a couple of pics from during the recital. they both did great.
thisbe playing “beauty and the beast”.

magnus surprised me with a duet with his teacher. (it sounded so sweet)

i’m sad that it wont work for jen to give piano lessons anymore. (she’s got her first babe coming next month.) she did such a great job with my kids. this isn’t the end of piano lessons, however. they start with their new teacher tomorrow.
well, i’ll leave you today with a cute picture of bronwyn. i just love how little girls look in their cute spring dresses.

thisbe has been preparing for another sale for about two weeks. this time the sale would be at our house. she used up almost all her fabric making rag ghosts. she set out to make rag dolls to sell however she quickly realized that the heads looked a lot like ghosts and a ghost is much easier to make than a doll. so she worked hard and made about 50 ghosts. she had me bake up a couple pans of cookies and she was set. thisbe made a couple of signs and sat out in the drive way waiting to see who would walk by. magnus joined in and was very good at getting walkers attention.

it was a slow two hours. not too much happening on our street.

the neighbor came out and supported them by buying some cookies. i guess they liked them because they came back for more. thisbe also sold one of her rag ghosts. a young girl on a scooter came by a bought one.
when they were tired of sitting in the sun, they packed up and came in. thisbe gleefully announced that she would save the rest of the rag ghosts for the next sale.
Today my new camera arrived. It ended up being a birthday present. I opened it up, stuck in some batteries, popped on the lens and started shooting. I’ll sit down and read the manual as soon as I have time. I’m not sure what the settings were on, I just started shooting. I think a few adjustments would have yielded a bit better quality but I’ll have to figure out all that later.
On Saturday we decided to try the community hunt again. Do you remember last year? Well the mayor of our little city happens to go to my church. I was talking with his wife about the hunt last year and she explained what happened and assured me things would be different this year. So off we went. And things went much smoother.
Bron’s age group was first. All the three and unders lined up with their parents and than off we went. Bron and I stopped at the first egg we found. Bron hovered over it for a while. She pointed at it and looked at me and than at the egg. It was like that for at least a minute if not two. Than finally she bent down and picked it up. When we looked up to see about finding another egg, they were all gone. Which was just fine. Bron was happy and wouldn’t let go of here egg.
So Magnus’ age group was next. His group was very crowded. It took him a while to even get into the field of eggs. He found a few eggs.
Thisbe’s group wasn’t quite a crowded but with the age group being 7-12 you can imagine how competitive that hunt was. Well do I even need to say it. Thisbe didn’t get a single egg.
Magnus was kind enough to share his eggs and Thisbe was a pretty good sport about the whole thing.
Well we took our eggs home and added them to the ones from last year and had egg hunts in the backyard all afternoon.
